COMMONPLACE is a literary supper club founded and curated by William Rayfet Hunter.

Each edition brings together three writers around a single theme, inviting them to share work, ideas and conversation over dinner. Rather than a traditional reading or panel, COMMONPLACE is designed as an intimate gathering: literature is something to be encountered collectively, discussed freely and carried into the conversations that happen around the table.

The dinners move between fiction, poetry, essays and ideas, with writers from different disciplines and backgrounds brought together around themes.

Founded in London in 2026, COMMONPLACE has since expanded internationally, with an edition in New York. Previous guests have included Shon Faye, Julia Campbell-Gillies, Fopé Ajanaku, Chanté Joseph, Freya Bromley, Megan Nolan, Jordan Tannahill and Upasna Barath.

COMMONPLACE is interested in what happens when literary culture becomes less formal, more social and more participatory — when the distance between writer and reader is reduced to the space across a dinner table.
